WebSPIRS, is a powerful http gateway and search interface. It  provides World Wide Web access to much of the data content on LRSNet through any forms-capable browser such as Netscape or Internet Explorer.  Information users can be confident that whether in the library or at home or office, you can retrieve the most effective results from the LRSNet collection of SilverPlatter databases by using nothing more than a web browser and Internet connection.Information professionals use  WebSPIRS for its flexibility -- WebSPIRS is easy to customize and configure to create a searching environment that meets the needs of your own user communities. And with online help available, WebSPIRS requires minimal user training.

LRSNet also supports a WebSPIRS client,WebSPIRS 3.1 for those customers not using a Java-enabled browser such as Netscape Navigator 3.01 or higher or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0. or those using slow internet connections

 

USER FEATURES  User-Friendly Navigation   A highly intuitive interface incorporates the benefits of frames technology and JavaScript* for point-and-click navigation and information display.  Simple and Advanced Searching Capability  Researchers can choose from two Search Templates - Basic for simple searches and Search Builder for more advanced search needs. Pull-down menus for field-specific searching make detailed searches easy to define and execute.  Saving a Search History  Searchers can easily re-call and re-execute complex searches against new databases or database updates  FLEXIBLE OUTPUT OPTIONS  Sort Search Results  Display or print search results based on any data field in the record, such as date, author or title. When cross-database searching, sort records by database name.  Results Display Options  Search results can display automatically after each search is completed, or after a complex search is built.  Flexible print/email/save/download capabilities  Mark records for printing or downloading immediately or at a later date. Search results can be emailed as HTML mark-up or plain text.    .

SEARCHING CAPABILITIES  Finding Relevant Databases  Use WebSPIRS to quickly identify all of the databases that contain the search term.  Easy Field-Specific Searching  Comprehensive database information, including descriptions and complete guides are available for each selected database. Additionally, there are pull-down menus for all searchable fields in the database.  Hyper-Text Linking on Source or Author  Locate additional articles from the same author or publication source
